From September 21st to November 15th 2020, LEDECO Centre has organized a series of online lectures on WTO reform. LEDECO has invited seven senior officials from international organizations and professors to deliver lectures to students from Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Shandong University of Finance and Economics (SDUFE) on topics around the WTO like China’s role in the WTO reform, transparency, subsidies and industrial policies, Appellate Body crisis etc.

Lecture B: “The Significance of Transparency & the Improvement”, Alejandro JARA, former Deputy Director General of the WTO & former Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Chile to the WTO

Lecture C: “Subsidies and Industrial Policies & its Future”, Mr. Patrick Low, former Chief Economist of WTO

Lecture D: “Appellate Body Dilemma & the Solution”,Professor Henry Gao, tenured law professor at Singapore Management University and Dongfang Scholar Chair Professor at Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade

Lecture E: “Decision-making Processes”, Mr. Stuart Harbinson, former representative of Hong Kong and the HK Special Administrative Region of China at the WTO

Lecture F: “Agriculture Subsidies Framework & the Reform”, Mr. Clemens Boonekamp, former Director of Agriculture Division of WTO, former Senior Economist of IMF

LectureG: “Special and Differential Treatment and the Role of China”, Mr. Evan Rogerson, Adjunct Senior Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore and Co-ordinator of the Singapore Trade Policy Forum
