From 1 July to 15 July, LEDECO has invited seven former senior officials from international organizations such as WTO, IMF, etc. to hold seven online lectures about global trade governance for students from Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, University of International Business and Economics, Shandong University of Finance and Economics and Shanghai University.

 

Lecture A: “Advantages of the WTO and the MTS” by Mr. Clemens Boonekamp, former Director of Agriculture Division of WTO, former Senior Economist of IMF

Lecture B: “Multilateralism and Regionalism” by Mr. Patrick Low, former Chief Economist of WTO

Lecture C: “Reshaping the Institutional Architecture of Globalization” by Mr. Hector Torres, former Executive Director at the IMF, former Counsellor at the WTO Appellate Body’s Secretariat and the Economic Research and Statistics Division

Lecture D: “WTO Reform and China’s Role” by Mr. Alejandro Jara, former Deputy Director-General of WTO, former Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Chile to the WTO

Lecture E: Trade Law and Data-driven Economy by Professor Gregory Shaffer, Chancellor’s Professor in Irvine School of Law, University of California

Lecture F: “COVID-19-related Trade Measures” by Dr. Jan Bohanes, Senior Counsel in Advisory Center on WTO, former Legal Affairs Officer of WTO

Lecture G: “Global Trade Cooperation after COVID-19” by Professor Peter Draper, Executive Director of the Institute for International Trade, University of Adelaide, Australia
