On July 15th-22nd 2019, LEDECO Centre Swiss (LEDECO) has organized its second Summer Program of International Organizations (SPIO) jointly with the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) of China in Beijing China. Five senior experts from WTO, the World Bank and the International Trade Center (ITC) delivered high-quality courses on topics about international trade governance and related international organizations to more than 100 CUFE students:
The courses and lecturers include:
- Future of Multilateral Trading System and China’s Role by Professor Xiankun LU, former senior trade diplomat of China and Managing Director of LEDECO Centre Swiss
- Negotiations on International Investment Agreement by Mr. Pierre Sauvé, Senior Trade Expert of World Bank to UN and WTO in Geneva, former Deputy Director of World Trade Institute of Bern University
- Trade Remedies (Anti-dumping, Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and Safeguard Measures) by H.E. Ambassador Alejandro JARA, former Deputy Director-General of the WTO and former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the WTO
- Rethinking Special and Different Treatment: Securing a Balance of Rights and Obligations Among WTO Members at Different Stages of Development by Professor Patrick Low, former Chief Economist of the WTO
- Promoting ‘Good Trade’: How ITC supports SMEs in developing countries by Mr. Matthew Wilson, Chief of Cabinet of Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC)
In addition, ZHOU Bing, vice president of the governmental affairs department in Greater China of DELL, and Simon Lacey, vice president of the global governmental affairs department of HUAWEI, participated in two courses as special guests.
