Ambassador Alejandro JARA is former Deputy Director-General of the WTO and former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the WTO.

Ambassador Alejandro JARA is former Deputy Director-General of the WTO and former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the WTO.

Other than Co-Chairman of Board of LEDECO Geneva, Ambassador JARA is also co- organizer of the Geneva-based think tank “Friends of Multilateralism Group” (FMG). He practices international trade law in Santiago, Chile and teaches in several universities

including Universidad de Chile, University of International Business and Economics of China (UIBE), Barcelona University and Mexico University.

Ambassador JARA has great experiences on international governance, multilateral diplomacy, international trade negotiation and international trade law. He once served as Senior Official of Chile to APEC, Deputy Chief Negotiator for the Chile-Canada Free Trade Agreement., Chief Negotiator for the Chile- Mexico Free Trade Agreement, and Director General for Interna- tional Economic Relations.

Ambassador JARA has a Bachelor Degree in Law from University of Chili and pursued graduate studies at the Law School of the University of California at Berkeley. He speaks Spanish as mother tone and excellent English, Portuguese and French.
